Our School

St Gregory the Great School, located in Bellerose, NY, is a Catholic elementary school. The school was founded in 1953 under the supervision of Father Daniel J. Holloran with the Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Dubuque, Iowa, serving as faculty.  Later, the Ursuline Sisters and Dominican Nuns from Amityville shared their presence with the lay faculty of the school at different times.

At St. Gregory the Great School, the pastoral staff administration, faculty, and parents realize that our mission is commit ourselves to the education of the whole person (mind, body, and soul), through a vibrant academic and faith-filled Catholic environment.

As an institution of Catholic education, St. Gregory's embraces the teaching of Jesus Christ through a daily commitment to spirituality and academics. We strive to provide an environment that fosters strong faith in God, Christian values, and the love of learning . Our goal for each student encompasses the personal peace and fulfillment that result from an intimate and ongoing relationship with God along with, academic achievement of state and diocesan standards.

Today, under the supervision of Ms. Lynn Alaimo as principal and a professional teaching staff of 25 lay teachers, the school serves children in Pre-K & Nursery to eighth grade. The parish priests, led by Pastor Msgr. Edward Ryan, coordinate religious studies in school, lead monthly class mass celebrations, and observe religious holidays.

Our elementary education curriculum centers on Catholic principles within a God-centered, faith filled learning environment. We follow New York State curriculum and strive to meet or exceed all New York State Learning Standards. Our school maintains it's accreditation by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools within their guidelines every three years. This accreditation assures our quality in education.  For more information go to http://msa-cess.org
